SanTranslate’s Early Days
SanTranslate was set up in 2001 to offer high-quality Chinese and English translations by founders Dr Yu-San Chan and Mr Quang Luong with help from Nottingham Trent University. Our company was also supported by Business Link throughout during the start-up phase. We were awarded a “Smart Award” by the UK Department of Trade and Industry (2001) to support the e-development in our translation scheduling. In 2002, SanTranslate won the Nottingham Shell Livewire award with a small cash prize, followed by a special award from East Midlands Shell Livewire. Mr Luong was given the opportunity to attend the EU meeting to learn about the full operation of simultaneous interpretation in Brussels.
In 2002, SanTranslate was proud to be nominated as one of the Nottinghamshire companies to join in the celebrations for the Queen’s Jubilee Year. The directors were guests at Buckingham Palace, meeting the Queen, the then Prime Minister, Tony Blair, and other politicians at the garden party.
In 2003 SanTranslate entered into the US translation market with clients in the commercial and financial sectors and in 2005 we added European language services to our portfolio.
We expanded from Chinese translation into other Asian languages in 2003, including Japanese, Korean, Thai, Laos and Vietnamese, to meet the demands of our clients and we continued to develop our client base in sectors such as advertising, education, manufacturing, textiles, logistics, railway, and property.
SanTranslate Today
In 2005, with the support of UK Trade and Investment, we opened another office in Hong Kong, China. This international coverage enables us to develop a stronger customer base in sectors such as government, finance and Traditional Chinese Medicine. We have translated many Hong Kong Government slogans that are used widely across the city.
From our early days providing Chinese and English translations, SanTranslate now works with all languages. As well as expanding our translation services, we have been developing our face-to-face interpretation interpretation and multilingual typesetting service. We can now provide a one-stop service for our clients.
Over the years, we have gained thousands of clients worldwide and work with over 1000 translators, interpreters and typesetters. Our translation team has the capacity to produce up to 100,000 words per week. Our project monitoring system allows us to liaise with our clients and has been an important part of our accreditation to ISO9001.
