This week, we tested on how Babelfish performs on English Portuguese Translation.

Although we were able to understand 99% of the text by filtering it with our little brains, the translation to Portuguese was not accurate. There were mistakes on the tenses and spelling too.

Machine Translation may save you money but it is far more sensible to use a professional translation company. No doubt free translation tools will destroy your corporate image and what’s worse in business world is being seen as disrespectful to the people that you are dealing with.

We found that the translation style was informal so it’s not suitable for this particular context.

Formatting was poor and it only allows you to add up to 150 words for translation (after all it is a free Portuguese translation service).
