Translation for tendering in China

A little while ago we translated a Chinese tender document into English for a construction sector client.  It’s a major project so it’s important that all parties are of the same understanding.  As always with major tenders of this sort, there is a lot of ongoing correspondence as contracts are negotiated.  As communications continue and legalities come into the picture, accurate legal translation is essential to ensure that both client and contractor understand each other clearly and that both are protected.

The tendering and contracting process can be fraught with difficulties at the best of times and with differences in language, culture and legal systems can become very complex.  Whilst good quality legal translation may look like an additional cost to bear in a process that can cost around £5,000-£10,000, the costs of errors arising from misunderstandings can be much greater so it’s worth factoring in the support of a translation company that will assist the smooth running of your negotiations.

Quick turnaround on translating tenders

A recent new client put SanTranslate under some pressure to perform.  Having found us on Google, they contacted us about translating a tender for a contract in China.  As is often the case with these things, the deadline was a tight one – very tight indeed.

We received the file late on a Friday evening and the client needed the translation for Monday morning.  Because we have great relationships with out Chinese translators, we were able to carry the work out over the weekend and meet the client’s urgent deadline.  We wish them good luck with their tender.

Tight deadlines for translating tenders

One of the more unusual translation assignments that we’ve been working on recently has been for a socio-economic consultancy working in Angola, translating a tender document for them for work in the field of city planning.

As is often the case with tendering work, the deadline was tight and our team of translators pulled out all the stops to ensure it was met.  And with the tender being so important for our client, it was essential that the translation was extremely accurate.

One of the challenges of this project was that Angola uses a Colonial form of Portuguese so particular attention had to be given to the back translation of documents from the Portuguese Embassy into English.  It was tricky job but our excellent team made a great success of it.
