UK universities to attract more students to study abroad

UK universities’ abilities to make the most of their web sites to attract UK students have received something of a thumbs-down from sixth-formers, an article on the Times Higher Educational web sitetoday says.  The gist is that university applicants want to hear a bit less from the universities themselves and a lot more from their students, reflecting wider web trends in respect of the value placed on peer reviews.

We can’t really speak for the UK students but we do know that De Montfort University in Leicester has been capturing the views and voices of their current international students in order to help attract their future overseas intake.

We provided interpreters in Mandarin, Thai, Lithuanian and Polish to help in the production of their new international video which intersperses essential information about the university with real students sharing their experiences of life there.  De Montfort has international students from over 50 countries so it’s very much in their interests to make the most of the opportunity to provide the information that prospective students clamour for in a way that is readily accessible.

Since SanTranslate first set up in 2001 with the help of Nottingham Trent University we have worked closely with the international offices of a number of higher education institutions, including Nottingham Trent itself, the University of Nottingham, Goldsmiths College London, Imperial College London and the University of Wolverhampton, translating for them a wide variety of print and web based materials.

De Montfort University video for international students

Nottingham-based translation company, De Montfort University logoSanTranslate has been working with De Montfort University in Leicester providing interpreters for a video they have developed showcasing the experience that some of their international students have enjoyed whilst studying there.

We provided interpreters in Mandarin, Thai, Lithuanian and Polish to help in the production of the video – the first time that De Montfort has used this medium in its campaign to attract students from overseas.

UK universities are popular with international students and it’s great to see De Montfort tapping into SanTranslate’s experience of working with the higher education sector in such a creative way.  Take a look at their video here.  De Montfort provides a wide range of support for international students to help them settle into life in the UK as well as assistance in improving their spoken and written English.

SanTranslate can also help international students through our certificate translation service which students may find useful when applying for visas.

NTU Updates

SanTranslate has always carried out a lot of work with the education sector and has a long-established working relationship with Nottingham Trent University providing translation services.

We’re currently working on their International brochure and so far have translated it into Arabic for the Libyan and Saudi markets and into Chinese for the Taiwanese market.  The University continues to be keen to promote itself to overseas students and we’re happy to work as their translation partner to help achieve their success.

Nottingham Trent University has been investing in its facilities.  The Newton Arkwright building is a major part of the University’s estates regeneration strategy.
